Easily their best album yet!
Easy Life are a five-man band based in Leicester, who play a unique blend of indie, hip hop and jazz elements. The release of their first official ep – ‘Junk Food’, combines undertones of the jazz indie vibes of Rex Orange County, and the hip-hop lyrics of Mac Miller.
Stand out tracks are ‘Dead Celebrity Earth’ and ‘Nice Guys’. They’re catchy and reflect Easy Life’s best qualities; ‘Matrevers’ is worth a listen, capturing strong vocals, and the cynical but realistic lyrics is a stroke of genius.
My personal favourite is ‘Spider’. It is a bit of random track, and possibly not for everyone – some may say its the weakest in the ep. However, it appeals to my soppy side!
The remainder of the ep; ‘7 magpies’, ‘sangria’, ‘ls6’, are excellent showpieces for the band who are tight and musically slick. But if I’m honest, I found them less inspiring and a bit samey.
This band was already achieving recognition and were second in the BBC “Sound Of 2020”. They are definitely on their way to the top! If you haven’t already heard them, I would strongly recommend you sample this EP before they get too mainstream…
